About the Company
Ventana Ballet is a professional dance company based in Austin, specializing in contemporary ballet dance performance, immersive theater, and collaborative art. Our main goals: make art accessible to the community and provide equitable artist payment. As such, our mission aims to provide artistically relevant, technically proficient, and publicly accessible dance performance to the community. Ventana Ballet provides performances and classes throughout the year to the Austin community. Installing immersive productions across the city in non-theater spaces allows us to increase audience accessibility and bring music and dance closer to our community.
Job Description
The Development & Fundraising Coordinator is an opportunity to join the Ventana Ballet team in the effort to advance the company mission by expanding the organization’s community of supporters. In addition, the Development & Fundraising Coordinator provides an opportunity to assist in company expansion activities and the pursuit of nonprofit organization goals. All internships offer flexible hours to accommodate school or work schedules. This is a 6-month paid position with the opportunity to continue for additional months. The position is virtual and offers flexible hours.
Responsibilities
Research and prospect potential funding sources through private and foundation grants
Research and prospect potential funding sources through private and foundation sponsorships
Collaborate with the team to manage donor events (e.g. open rehearsals, backstage receptions, gala, etc.)
Research and prospect prospective partnerships and collaborations
Manage donor benefits and follow-ups
Assist the director in the application for 501c3 nonprofit company status
Provide general administrative support
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree or have a completed degree in business, business administration, nonprofit administration, development, or other related field
Professional demeanor, organization skills, and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced work environment
Sense of discretion when dealing with confidential information
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite
Requirements
Hours: 5-10 hours/week, March through August 2021; select nights and weekends required for events
Location: Mostly Virtual; in-person presence required for Austin, TX events; attendance to rehearsals is a plus

The Future Expansion of Ventana Ballet
The future of Ventana Ballet includes expansion in three parts. The future plans to create a youth dance company, VentanaDos, will create performance and internship opportunities for local youth dancers to experience a professional working environment. In addition, Ventana Ballet will expand to offer outreach performances to local retirement homes, hospitals, and community centers that are free for the audience to attend, but still offer payment to the artists. Lastly, the future of Ventana Ballet will include the creation of a scholarship program which will sponsor the tuition costs of local BIPOC children who would like to attend a dance training school.
